what I would tell young me

Moving is an opportunity to revisit the past with a new lens. So many long lost memories are re-found.

It’s interesting to see the many faces of me in my younger years. The styles, the adopted personas vs the real person, the sadness behind the smile, the trying to fit in while trying to uncover who the real me is. Am I worth liking, will anyone ever love me; the thoughts of a young girl can be quite dismantling.

I see this young girl and I reach back in time to tell her, it only gets better. I tell her that she’ll experience so much. Some deep, dark hell and some incredible heavenly moments. They are all equally wonderful, even though you may not believe it as you’re going through it. But every one of these experiences, bad or good, are a lesson that will be cemented in your soul for eternity.

I tell her, you’ve come out on the other side with some battle wounds, but they are merely tattoos to remind you of your strength, fortitude and light. Sure, there’s more to come, but your better prepared for battle now that you’ve stepped into your power.

I give her a big hug. That memory of this young girl has evolved into a more confident woman, the wise crone. I smile and know in my heart we’ve both come full circle. #selflovejourney
