An anniversary of a proposal; decades in the making

What a wild & crazy ride we signed up for… when we were this young, who would have thought we’d have to go through everything we did to return to one another again. Hadn’t we already been through enough at this point? (1983)

Fast forward….

He’s my biggest pain in the ass, He’s such an accurate mirror for me, he calls me out on my shit and even when I am mad as hell at him, I wouldn’t dream of doing this all without him. I say all this because the ooey-gooey posts are not the boots on the ground, every day, doing the things stuff that relationships are made of. And if you’re not building that strong foundation, it is easy to get derailed.

I believe along with the commitment you make to your partner, there needs to be a deep understanding that no matter what, you got the other persons back, even if you’re mad as hell with the behavior, you’re still committed to that soul.

Now, to me, that doesn’t mean you’ll always stick together, but even right up until you part ways, you’ve got each other’s back. Some highly evolved couples can even pull that off after they split.

So I guess the point I am trying to make is, the ooey-gooey stuff you see on social media is not all unicorns & rainbows. During those challenging times, that you never post on social media, when you’re ready to scream your head off, that is where the deep committed love lives too.
